Роене

May 24th, 2010 No comments

Parkett anlegen

March 2nd, 2010 No comments

The rise of the 3D cinema

December 28th, 2009 No comments

Did you watch Avatar? Sure you did/will!

Or may be not – a $300 million movie, promoted for additional $150 million, hugh!? One might think they are selling us again a rotten egg in a shiny package. Actually, the movie is quite spectacular – the story is naïve and childish but the technology and the design behind the film are simply amazing!!

Mostly because of the 3D. 3D computer graphics combined with 3D camera shooting – James Cameron developed his own two camera (stereoscopic) box. He waited some 10 years for the technology to catch up with the ideas he had back then in 1999, right after finishing “Titanic”.

And now he has it. The 3D celebrates its resurection, stronger than ever. I remember watching a dull and badly synthesized movie some 7-8 years ago in Sofia, Bulgaria. We had a set of red-green glasses, and we could only see 3D if we concentrate really hard in order to get the right (red) on the left (green) views overlapping. After the 15 minutes were gone, you get totally dizzy out of the theater, doubting that there is some future in this 3D stuff. Back then there were polarized glasses too – but in other, technologically more advanced lands. Yet, there was no content for this technology, there were no movies. Unlike now. In the last decade we have witnessed the tremendous improvement in (2D viewed) 3D graphics. E.g. my personal favourite – the movies of Pixar. 2009 we got flooded by (mostly animated) movies for 3D cinemas. 3D is coming back!

We just found a site for “funky” image processing … So you can actually omit “industrial” before “image processing”?!?

Realtek wireless card not working under Vista

August 15th, 2009 1 comment

I had lots of problems with my previous wireless card under Vista x64. It had a Realtek RTL 8185L chipset. I messed around with all configuration options of the card. I tried old, newer and newest drivers for it (the newest was 02.2008, I think). Yet, nothing was helping – it was taking up to 5-7 minutes for the computer to acquire IP address and later on it was loosing network every now and then. Finally, I found a discussion in Internet, where other users shared similar experiences with this chipset. Someone mentioned that Realtek never made a proper driver for Vista for this chipset. I decided to go for another card and this really solved the problem. Now I am a proud owner of a TP-LINK WN650G card (“China’s No 1 Market Share Holder” – it really says so, … and this gives me peace of mind, indeed). It has some Atheros AR5005GS chipset and it functions perfect from the very moment I inserted it in the computer.

Hi there!

This is just my first post … So far, I had to fight a bit with the “new technologies” to get it running. Let’s see how it will go on.
