Realtek wireless card not working under Vista
I had lots of problems with my previous wireless card under Vista x64. It had a Realtek RTL 8185L chipset. I messed around with all configuration options of the card. I tried old, newer and newest drivers for it (the newest was 02.2008, I think). Yet, nothing was helping – it was taking up to 5-7 minutes for the computer to acquire IP address and later on it was loosing network every now and then. Finally, I found a discussion in Internet, where other users shared similar experiences with this chipset. Someone mentioned that Realtek never made a proper driver for Vista for this chipset. I decided to go for another card and this really solved the problem. Now I am a proud owner of a TP-LINK WN650G card (“China’s No 1 Market Share Holder” – it really says so, … and this gives me peace of mind, indeed). It has some Atheros AR5005GS chipset and it functions perfect from the very moment I inserted it in the computer.
